In the early 1950s, entrepreneur Lee Ratner, through his Lehigh Corporation, set out to transform the Lucky Lee Ranch into one of Florida's first mass-marketed residential communities, selling thousands of lots to buyers across the country. The name combined Lee County with the Lehigh Corporation.
